A memorial visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center.
Obituary
Age 71, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019. Jan was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on January 26, 1948, the daughter of the late Earnest L. and Ferne A. (Bradeen) Best. She was employed as a lead dietician at Comstock Public Schools for many years. Jan enjoyed gardening, antiques, fast cars and road trips. She loved her family and her animals. Jan is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Holmes; daughters, Christine (Chris) Leroi and Tara (Bruce) Skaggs; grandchildren, Hunter (Bailey) and Chase Verschoof, Alex Engelman and Jordyn Skaggs; great-granddaughter, Daphne Engelman; step-children, Kim (Greg) Snow, Bill, Jr., Danny, Karen and Kristy Holmes; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Earnest (Jungeu) Best, Karen (Rowland) Howell, Richard Best and Mary (Damian) Mello; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jan, you were a gentle light in so many lives. May your loving spirit continue to guide us through the dark times.
Thank you for loving my father the way you did. We love and miss you dearly.
Dear Aunt Jan, Your warm smile and sweet nature will be remembered fondly by all of us. You have been a role model to me from the time I was a baby because of your genuine and kind personality. I never felt anything but true love from you. Thank you for always being there for me and my family. I love you always and will carry you closely in my heart and memory.
