In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49024, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Fr. William Jacobs celebrant. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Genesee Prairie Cemetery.
Obituary
God called Jeanne home at the age of 89 on March 9, 2018. She was born in Kalamazoo on July 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Clarence and Lena (Long) Corey. Jeanne graduated from Nazareth Academy in Kalamazoo in 1946 as a registered nurse. On June 28, 1952, she was united in marriage to Norman D. Sparks, who God called home in 2015. Jeanne was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin and sister, Shirley Ann Spoke. Jeanne is survived by her children, Mike (Patty) Sparks, Sharie (Aurelio) Martinez and John (Mary) Sparks; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother in-law, Donald Spoke and nieces and nephews. Jeanne was a member of St. Francis Fraternity of Phoenix, Arizona.
