Obituary
Jessica L. Paterala age 35 of Otsego passed away Tuesday June 2, 2026, at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Born April 17, 1991 in Kalamazoo, Jessica was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. She was an avid Beatles fan, collecting interesting memorabilia during her lifetime. She enjoyed sitting outside while reading a good book, but the truest passion and the greatest love of her life has always been her son, Noah. Surviving are her parents, Edward and Tami Paterala; son, Noah Paterala; Noah’s dad, Shane Hewitt; brother, Derek (Jennifer) Paterala; nephews and niece, Zane, Ezra, Jameson and Willa; two aunts, Karen MacDonald, Shawna (Matt) Scribben; special cousin, Beth; additional cousins; uncles; her extended family at Meijer on Westnedge and her cat, Mao. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and uncle, Jon MacDonald.
You are too young and had more to do in this life, I’m not sure why you’re gone. Our hearts are broken beyond repair. You will always be my little girl. We love you so much Jessica.
Jessica was a truly wonderful person. Although we never had the opportunity to meet in person, we connected through a chance search for relatives on Facebook. From the very beginning, she welcomed our conversations with open arms and it was an absolute pleasure getting to know her. She was a bright light who embraced life to the fullest and brought warmth and kindness to those around her. You will be missed beyond measure and I am incredibly grateful that we had the opportunity to connect and share in those conversations. Our thoughts, prayers and heartfelt condolences are with all of her family and friends during this difficult time. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
