Joan P. Kievit

February 5, 1932 – August 4, 2020

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM at 12th Street Baptist Church, 3911 S. 12th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, Pastor Thaddeus Stout officiating. Visitation will take place at the church, one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to 12th Street Baptist Church, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.

Obituary

Age 88, transitioned to her forever home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Joan was born in Schoolcraft, Michigan on February 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Harold A. and Frances A. (Kinney) Taylor. She married her best friend and love of her life, Richard “Dick” L. Kievit on their shared birthday in 1952. Dick preceded her in death on January 25, 2013. Joan is survived by her children, Stephen (Denise) Kievit, Kryn (Mary) Kievit, Karin Joyce and Gregory (Theresa) Beulle; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Pollock; sisters in-law, Marge Taylor and Phyllis Bourgios; adopted granddaughter, Tricia Dailey and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Taylor; sons in-law, Timothy Balkema and Patrick Joyce; daughter in-law, Peggy Kievit and brothers in-law, Paul Pollock and Ron Bourgios.
