John R. Steele, 71, of Kalamazoo passed away on November 24^th, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Norman and Rebe Steele. He married Sandra (Bonnet) Steele in 1974, and together they had two children, Jenny Henley and Mackey Steele. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Lilly Henley and Evelyn Henley. John had four siblings, Brent (his Irish twin) and Jeffrey, and two brothers, Greg and Bobby, who preceded him in death. He also had many in-laws, nieces and nephews. John loved to play his guitars, was in many bands and would jam whenever he could. He greatly enjoyed Texas Hold ‘em and was a good poker player.  He also refereed basketball, skied, and loved the outdoors. He was a member at Peoples Church where he served on the Finance Committee. He also served as board member and treasurer of the Kalamazoo Valley Blues Association. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. John loved his family, and he will be greatly missed. He earned his living as a CPA, but his favorite job was as a Dad and Papa.
