Obituary

Age 93, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Ken was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 29, 1927, the son of the late George and Esther (Erickson) Wiers. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ken spent 34 years as a Chemist Assistant at the Upjohn Company. On March 8, 1951, he married the former Norma Jane Burnham, who preceded him in death on January 26, 2005. Ken enjoyed spending time at his home on Upper Crooked Lake in Delton and doing yardwork. After Norma’s death, he began to travel with his son and loved watching his granddaughter play hockey. Ken is survived by his only son, Kenneth D. “Pop”, who considered his dad his best friend; granddaughter, Kelsey Wiers; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Besides Norma and his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his sister and brother in-law, Cora and Clyde VanAvery. At this time, no services are scheduled. Pop and Kelsey wish to extend their sincere appreciation to everyone at Grove Street Café in Delton for their friendship with Ken over the past years. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association.

Dan and I are so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. He and your mom were the best neighbors ever. He was such a busy guy. He taught us, “work smarter, not harder!” Hugs and prayers to you.
