Obituary

Age 87, passed away early Thursday morning, December 1, 2022. Ken was born in Kalamazoo on April 16, 1935, the son of Herman and Cleo (Smith) Fryling. On September 29, 1972, he married Velma Sue Beal who survives him. Ken was a long-time employee of General Motors where he worked as a Machinist. Ken was proud to have served his nation in the U. S. Army. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ken liked everyone, He never met a stranger. To know him was to like him. You couldn’t go anywhere without bumping into someone he knew. Ken was a deeply generous person and was loved by his entire family who will miss him very much. Besides his wife, Ken is survived by Debra Spade-Jones of Kennewick, WA, Phillip (Maria) Reisterer of Portage, Paula (Ken) Jones of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Laureli, Kristin, Andrea, Nathan, Riley, and Remiel; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Kurtis and Benjamin; sister, Janice Abbate of Portage; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family; and countless friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, C.J. Henton and Kenneth Jones; brother, Norman Fryling; sister, Jacqueline Fryling.

You were smiling every time I ever saw you! I’m so happy that I was able to see and talk with you at your and Sue’s 50th anniversary party!
