A service commemorating Leonard’s life will be on Tuesday, April 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick Street. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Obituary
Age 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Leonard was born on June 22, 1940, in Kalamazoo, the son of Leonard and Alice (Sovine) Wessels Sr. On May 14, 1960 he married Judy Young, who preceded him in death in 2007. Leonard is survived by his children Greg Wessels of Muncie, IN, Randy (Anne) Wessels of Portage, Lauri Hartzell of Portage, Jeff (Lior) Wessels of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Phillip (Laura) Wessels of Texas, and Daniel (Sheri) Wessels of Reed City; sisters, Jerri (Bill) Boller of Three Rivers and Darline (Doug) Wethington of Florida; many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sharon, and a son in law.
You are my heart, my brother, my friend, I love you and will see you again.
We shared a few laughs and few tears, you were a wonderful brother in law. Now you are up there telling jokes with the rest of the family. You will be missed but you rest in peace now and I will see you again soon. Love Jackie
