In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service at Fort Custer National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Milwood United Methodist Church, care of the funeral home. Friends and Family are encouraged to leave a condolence message.
Obituary
Our precious mother, Lilly Ann Huff, 94, born on July 25, 1926, in Byron Center, Michigan, peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2021. She was the daughter of Hal Cross and Bessie (Lilly) Stolzy. Lilly was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family. A long-time member of Milwood United Methodist Church, she enjoyed volunteering for any church task needed, be it rummage sales, vacation bible school and other ministries. Lilly was also a long-time member of Church Women United, as well as the Kalamazoo Grow and Garden Show. Her life was living example of her favorite Bible Verse, Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, tenderhearted and forgiving…”.
Lilly will be greatly missed and is survived by her children, Diane DeWaters, Lauri (Jeff) Bombich, Renee (Gaylon) Bell, Rhonda (David) Mills; grandchildren Wendy (Bill) Dorrance, Mindy (Bobby) Lee, Jenny DeWaters, Jeremy Bombich, David Bombich, Melissa (Bryan) Moisan, Samantha (Tyrone) McClendon, Casey Bell, Bradley (Rachel) Mills and Courtney Mills; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her dearest surviving cousin, Emigail (Lilly) Fisk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold, whom she married July 9, 1948; son Brian, daughter-in-law Cathy (Schreuder) Huff, son-in-law John DeWaters, sister Jean Hatton, brother Louis and brother Robert. She was a symbol of grace and courage as evidenced by the early loss of her brother, Robert, a Lieutenant and fighter pilot who perished over the battlefields of France in June 1944.
Beautiful…smart …sweet and Strong! Those are the words I would use to describe Rhonda mom. I always enjoyed seeing her and hearing Lilly stories!
Will miss Lilly Ann and her genuine interest, with a smile, in how people are doing. We would all catch up at the annual reunion. My sincere condolences to her family.

Lilly was my sister-cousin. She was my cousin, but I didn’t have siblings, so we were as close as sisters. We lived near each other and romped through childhood together. Lilly was one of a kind, and was devoted and loyal to me til the end. Although distance set us apart, we always remained close and visited each other as often as possible through the years. Love and miss you, til we meet again, dear sister-cousin.
