Obituary
Age 65, passed away early Monday morning, October 19, 2020. Lisa was born in Kalamazoo, on May 22, 1955, the daughter of Lennox and Elaine (Wauter) Eldridge. On April 11, 1981, she married Donald E. Bird, who survives her. She recently retired from 43 years of nursing practice at Borgess Hospital. She was a natural caretaker and always put others before herself. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her husband, Don, she is survived by her sons, Daniel E. (Michelle) Bird of Vicksburg, Mark L. Bird of Kalamazoo, and Kenneth J. Bird of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Raquel, Rhett and Leanna; sisters, Barbara Jackson and Paula Eldridge, both of Kalamazoo; brother, John Eldridge of Sallisaw, OK; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless friends. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents.
Lisa was a great nurse and always had a smile on her face. She will be missed by her Borgess family. RIP and see you on the other side dear friend
I was so sad to hear of Lisa’s passing. We worked over 23 years together on 7N. 7N was like a big family and we supported each other in good times and not so good times. I knew I could always count on her for help and support. Don, my heart aches for you and your family. She will be missed by many. Hugs and prayers go out to everyone
I’ve known Lisa for my entire nursing career, From PCA to RN. Not only was she a wonderful friend. She was an amazing mentor. She will be greatly missed.
I worked with Lisa at Borgess on 7n. I was a pca when we met. She was always there for me, she would often encourage me to become an RN and I did. Lisa was very loving, generous and always so calm. She was a crying shoulder for me when my sister passed. She was a genuine woman. My condolences to the family.
So sad to hear of the passing of my dear friend Lisa. We went from 1st to 12th grade together. She always had a smile and a helping hand. Always good memories with her. RIP my friend.
