A Ceremony to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018, beginning at 12:00 PM, at First United Baptist Church, 821 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service. Interment at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Obituary

Born on March 12, 2010, to Brandi Thigpen and Marcus Hutchins. Makiyla is survived by both of her parents. Makiyla went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Though Makiyla would face many difficulties in life, she remained full of love, laughter and joy. She had an infectious smile and jubilant personality. She made friends easily and always left behind a feeling of love and warmth with those who met her. She attended Woods Edge Learning Center where she will be greatly missed. Makiyla leaves to cherish her memory grandparents, Kawana Richards, Eddie McKinney, Mildred Thigpen, Alynne Hutchins, Danny White, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Makiyla has joined her grandfather, Danny White, great-grandfather, Armour Housley, great-grandmother, Ivory Dawson, aunt Julia Tillman and other family and friends to acclaim her true life in Christ.

Brandi I am sending my love to you and the family. I know that Makiyla was your everything. God shared his precious angel with us for eight years and for that I am forever grateful. Please stay strong as I know you will. I love you cousin and I am sorry that you are facing this difficult tome.
