Marie Spencer age 94 of Galesburg passed away Sunday morning, July 12, 2026. Marie was born in Bronson, MI on March 2, 1932, the daughter of Garland and Ethel Gage. On January 30, 1953, she married Neldon I. Spencer who preceded her in death in 2024. Marie was an avid gardener. She loved flowers. Marie was a great cook and worked for many years as a food service worker at Comstock Community Schools. She canned pears, peaches, homemade jellies, and anything with apples from the orchard on their property where they lived for the last 50 years. She and Neldon enjoyed playing cards with a group of friends. She was the last surviving member of that group. In the summers she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and beautiful sunsets at their cottage on Wall Lake. She was a member of Galesburg Congregational Church. Marie is survived by her sons, Douglas Spencer, Brian (RaShonda) Spencer; grandchildren, Amanda (Cole) Nuyen, Laura Spencer, Ryan Spencer, Courtney (Timothy) Gee, Kyle (Katie) Spencer and Emily McClain; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Dessie Harris; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Besides her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Springstead.
