Marilynn Price-Richard was born in Minnesota and spent her early childhood in rural Minnesota as the daughter of a pastor and a homemaker. Marilynn met her first husband, Roger Price in Hawaii. They moved to Illinois, and graduated from Benoit University. She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising their daughter Jean Marie, before Roger’s untimely death. After Roger’s passing, Marilynn moved to California, and gave birth to Wayne. She returned to school and earned a teaching degree and master’s degree in Art Education and Oil Painting. Marilynn taught school while raising Jean Marie and Wayne.

Marilynn earned a doctorate and then worked at the J. Paul Getty Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, where she served as its first program officer. She met and married Roger Richard while living in Los Angeles. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage. After her work at the Getty, Marilynn taught as a professor in Art Education at Ball State University.

Throughout her life, and through many difficult times, she drew from a very deep faith in Jesus Christ. Her faith was expressed in her oil paintings, drawings, weaving, and beading. Marilynn designed each work and created them with excellence. In her later years, she enjoyed hosting friends, worship, crocheting, and singing. Her mother and father, two brothers, first husband, and daughter (Jean Marie) preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Roger, son Wayne (Joy), grandchildren George (Shelly), Katrina (Brandt), and Rachel (Kuda).
