A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Renovation Church, 1715 W. Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49024
Starting at 1:30 pm visitation with family prior to the service celebrating Mary’s Life.

Obituary

Mary L. Boling, age 97, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2026

She was born on November 11, 1928 Lucius B. Butts and Florence L (McDonald) Butts. She married Edward Boling on October 4, 1968.

Mary retired from Continental Linen Services where she was respected for her integrity, commitment and strong work ethic.

Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. A faithful servant of the Lord, Mary was deeply involved in her church throughout the years, serving others with her kindness, compassion, and humility. Her unwavering faith touched the lives of many and remained her guiding light. Her Lord and Savior guided her in every decision during her final days.

Mary cherished her family near and far. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family creating treasured memories that will be held close for generations.

Mary found great joy in creating jewelry and baking with her great granddaughter Brittany Bennett. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, sewing, and creating everything from warm cookies to sewing outfits, making something old into something new.

Mary, who was the matriarch of her family she was also a historian that actively preserved the history of her family looking back all the way to the 1700s for future generations to understand.

Mary was proceeded in death by her daughter, Vicki Poindexter, her grandson, William Poindexter Jr., and her great grandson Joseph Freeman-Poindexter. She was survived by her husband, Edward Boling, son William Poindexter Sr. stepson Randy (Ronda) Curtis, her granddaughter Heather (Steve) Truax, her grandson, Ron (Rebekah) Curtis, and great granddaughters, Brittany Bennett and Julia Curtis.

Dear Uncle Ed and family, I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Mary. Also so sorry I wasn’t there for the service. Unfortunately I just recently aware of this and just found this obituary. Rest in peace Mary. I enjoyed our talks at the family reunion. Ed you will be prayed on for comfort.
