A visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Private interment will take place at Trowbridge Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Kairos Dwelling.
Obituary
Age 87, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021. MaryLou was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on April 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Bernard and Helen (Fitzpatrick) Lyon. MaryLou was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She took pride in keeping her home and caring for her family. On December 22, 1950, she married John VanderPloeg, who preceded her in death on February 23, 2020. MaryLou is survived by her children, John (Terry) VanderPloeg, Marie (Jerald) Conroy, James (Pamela) VanderPloeg and Joseph VanderPloeg; grandchildren, Scott (Jackie) and Tom VanderPloeg, Caitlin (Ryan) Powell and Casey and Courtney VanderPloeg; and one great-grandson, Cade Finney. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shannon Marie VanderPloeg in 1998.
Definitely a very sweet lady. I’ve enjoyed many conversations with her. She will be missed. All my prayers to the Family and friends.
