In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Lawton. Memorial contributions may be given to Centrica Care Navigators Hospice, c/o the funeral home.

Obituary

Age 79, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Max was born in Lawrence, MI, the son of the late Max L. Sr. and Barbara Johnson. He attended Loy Norrix High School. Max was a hard worker who held many jobs. He began working at A&P grocery store in Kalamazoo and then moved to California where he began working for the Frito Lay Company. He later became the chief of police for Leisure Village in Camarillo, CA until his retirement. He loved the ocean and the California sun. When not working he enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, painting and horses. In 2017 he returned to Michigan to be close with family. Max had a great sense of humor and a free spirit. His favorite saying when asked how he was doing was “Uptight, out of sight, in the groove, can you dig it!” He lived his life to the fullest and will be missed by all who loved him. Max is survived by a daughter, Heidi Konik; grandson, Blake; sisters, Carol (Jay Junker) Moses and Nylene (Henry) Page; many nieces, nephews and friends. Max was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Tammy Moses.
