In accordance with her wish cremation will take place and a service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Reformed Church, care of the funeral home.
Obituary
Age 55, passed away on May 29, 2021. She was born in Kalamazoo on March 24, 1966, the daughter of the late Jan and Kina (Klooster) Wagenaar. Melissa was kind, generous and loving. She believed in the Lord and attended Hope Reformed Church where her presents will be missed. Melissa was a selfless woman who went above and beyond in helping others. Her home and heart were always open to those in need. She worked hard as a custodian at Crossroads Mall for several years. When not working she had a passion for flowers and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She loved animals and was especially fond of her pet cat “Peeka-Boo”. Above all Melissa loved her family and friends and she leaves them with many happy memories to cherish. She is survived by two sons, Luke (Sam) Rice and Brian Rice Jr.; granddaughter, Makenzie; four siblings, Nicholas, Anne, Gus and Janna Wagenaar. She was also preceded in passing by her brother Johannes Wagenaar.

Such a kind and sweet soul. So sorry she was taken from us so soon. We will miss her sweet smile every Sunday at church. Looking forward to joining her in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ . We are gone from this life for only a short while, to be reunited again in glory. Jim and Sue Johnson.
