Mike Daoust, 79 of Battle Creek, joined his wife in the presence of the Lord on September 2nd, 2026. Mike was born in Alpena, MI on July 18, 1947. The youngest of 8 kids consisting of two sisters and five brothers.

Mike lived a life in the woods; he was a logger at an early age. This occupation took him to the Upper Peninsula, where he met the love of his life Cheryl Daoust. They were united in marriage on August 28, 1971. They spent their early years on the Garden Peninsula but eventually made their way to Battle Creek where they would build their legacy. Mike’s first job was at C&D Tree Service, where he was a trimmer. His passion for logging would be something Mike would enjoy for life, passing it on to the next generation. Mike would eventually leave logging and become a machinist at Aeroquip until its closure and eventually moved to Cellofoil in 1988; where he would retire after 25 years of service. On October 31, 1975, Mike and Cheryl would welcome their daughter Michelle Daoust. Michelle and Mike would spend many special times together, from riding four wheelers to fishing for bluegills on Blue Lake. On June 21, 1996, their grandson, Devin Daoust was born. Mike was Devin’s dad, best friend and hunting partner.

Mike had an affinity for good times and the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing with his brothers-in-laws, Rick Bates and Joe Polmatier. They enjoyed many smallmouth bass fishing trips in the South River in Garden, MI. He enjoyed four wheeling with family and chasing big bucks with Devin. Mike had a passion for golf. He golfed in four leagues and even found time to bowl in two senior leagues. When Mike wasn’t outdoors you would find him in the barn tinkering or near a firepit enjoying a cold beer. If you knew Mike, you knew he was never impressed with the finer things in life, just give him a cold Milwaukee.
Mike was a patient, gentle, understanding man who resembled Popeye due to his logging physique. To know him was to love him. He will be missed by many, including his nieces and nephews who enjoyed laughter and good times together. Mike enjoyed life and enjoyed traveling and adventures with his cousins Dave and Carol Walbeck.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Michelle Daoust and his Grandson (Son) Devin Daoust. His brothers: Tom (Faye) Daoust of Nebraska, Chuck (Emily) Daoust of Alpena, MI. Sisters in laws: Marsha (Rick) Bates, Mary (Joe) Polmatier, and Lisa (Chris) Weber. Bonus sons Jimmy, Matt, and Jeff and bonus grandsons, Kyler and Mark.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Daoust. Brothers: Billy, Dan and Jim and sisters Gloria and Gwen.
