Age 78, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Phyllis was born in Chicago, IL, on November 1, 1942, the daughter of Walter Milton and Dorothy Mae (Landes) Young Jr.  On April 1, 1963, she married James R. McKenzie who preceded her in death on February 8, 2003. She taught us that any problem could be solved by thinking out of the box. She was a colorful and unique individual. Phyllis was a trailblazer and worked as a truck driver before it popular for women to hold such positions. She had no judgment for other people and was friends with other like-minded people. She helped build and managed the Three Mile Lake Mobile Home Park in Paw Paw.  Phyllis is survived by daughter, Wendy McKenzie of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Zackery and Gabriel McKenzie, and Mallory and Robert McKenzie; step-children, Thomas McKenzie,and Carol Byrd; step-grandchildren,  Shawn Langley, Nathan and Casey McKenzie, John Sweeting, Bobby McKenzie, Thomas Fenton, Amanda and Christine Byrd. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Colleen McKenzie; a son, James D. McKenzie; a step-grandson, Samuel Langley III, and a step-granddaughter, Lauren McKenzie.
