Randy Rogers was a kind and caring husband, father, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully after an extended illness, in a way he would have wanted, in the comfort of his own home, relishing in a Lion’s victory the night before, the Beatles playing softly, with his wife and son at his side, on October 21st, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born to Louise and Lloyd “Cotton” Rogers on September 10th, 1949, Randy was raised in Holland, Michigan, along with his younger sister Robin. One of his favorite childhood memories was his 11th birthday on a bus trip to Detroit with his dad and fellow police officers to a Detroit Tiger/New York Yankee game, where he had the dream of a lifetime watching Mickey Mantle hit a home run out of Tiger Stadium. He graduated from Holland High School in 1967. Randy participated in many sports, excelling in both Baseball and Football, including receiving All-State Honors.

After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1971, Randy went on to work in multiple sales roles in the automotive industry, while spending his free time pursuing his passions of Fishing, Spending time with Family, and playing Slow Pitch Softball.

Randy excelled in Slow Pitch Softball, playing on various Top Teams for over 30 years, winning numerous tournaments, including a State Title, along the way. His Softball career also led to many great friendships, and through those friendships he was able to meet his future wife, Nancy.

Randy and Nancy were married for over 33 years, welcoming their son Alex in 1994 to complete their family of 3. After Alex’s arrival, Randy would spend the next 31 years as his biggest supporter, whether acting as a coach, a confidant, or a catch partner, he was always there to help in whatever way he could. When he wasn’t coaching, Randy loved watching Alex compete in games as a spectator, even attending football practices and far away track meets when Alex was in high school.

Randy was a hardcore pier fisherman, who reeled in many a great catch over the years. Navigating the wind and water temperatures to determine whether he should go to St. Joe or South Haven was a true joy of his life. Frankfort holds a special place in the heart of Randy and his family, as it is where they spent many vacations over the years fishing off the pier and spending time on the beaches of Lake Michigan. When Alex was younger, comparing his height to the length of Randy’s fishes in pictures was a favorite family tradition. One of his more recent memorable fish was a 27lb King Salmon off the pier in Frankfort in 2019.

In the last decade, Randy and Nancy enjoyed many rounds of golf, often exceeding their goal of 100 rounds a year. They enjoyed competing and spending time with each other, Randy even “took it well” when Nancy would occasionally outdrive him off the tee. At home, you could often find Randy in the driveway honing his craft either hitting whiffle balls into the cul-de-sac or hitting into the driving net that he and Alex put up together. Randy also enjoyed rebuilding his Mickey Mantle baseball card collection and spending time haggling at card shows.

Randy loved the outdoors and was a natural green thumb. He grew delicious tomatoes, cucumbers, and wildflowers in his gardens over the years that he was happy to share with friends, family, and neighbors. He provided and maintained numerous bird feeders and loved watching all types of birds including Orioles, Hummingbirds, and his favorite and most elusive bird to see, the Pileated Woodpecker in his own back yard.

Randy expressed himself most beautifully through his writing, taking time to compose and craft his thoughts onto paper so that they truly came from his heart. This meant very much to him. He had a way with words that showed you how much thought he put into them, anybody who ever was lucky enough to receive a letter from Randy can attest.

Randy will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his thoughtfulness, and love for his family. A great ball player, fisherman, husband, and dad, Randy will be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him forever.

Randy is survived by his wife Nancy; his son Alex (Kayla Lalik); his sister Robin (Don) Reef; their daughters Savannah & Grace; his favorite little buddy Dom “Kitty Cat” Rogers; and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd “Cotton” & Louise Rogers.
