A public celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Comstock Community Center, 6330 King Hwy., Kalamazoo, MI 49048. A visitation will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, where a private service for the family will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Ray’s son, Alex, c/o LeAnne Burgan.
Obituary
Age 31, passed away on June 12, 2021. Ray was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 22, 1989, the son of LeAnne L. Burgan and Don P. DeWitt. He was a graduate of Comstock High School, class of 2008. Ray spent time as assistant manager at Dollar General and Aldi. He recently completed Trade School and was looking forward to beginning a career in General Contracting. Ray was a kind and gentle person with a big heart. His family was always at the center of his world. He enjoyed attending family gatherings, no matter the size or the reason. He was also an amazing dad to his son, Alex. Ray loved racing cars and attending the races. He leaves behind his only son, Alexavier Sherrod; mother, LeAnne (Don Bowling) Burgan and father, Don DeWitt; siblings, Amanda Dmoch and Dillon DeWitt; grandparents, Harold & Linda Burgan and David & Phyllis Taylor; nieces, Megan, Jenna and Ella; nephew, Gerard and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ray was preceded in death by his grandfather, Don C. DeWitt and aunts, Dawn Esseltine and Kimberly Ferguson.

So sorry for your lose. He was a great man. I remember this little boy coming into daycare when I would come get the kids. Saying mom can I have or mom can I do. He was a funny kid. May he rest now. Say hi to aunt kimmy
