Obituary
Rodger L. Wolfe of Galesburg, age 87, passed away at Laurels of Galesburg on October 9, 2026, with loved ones at his side. He was born in Neptune, New Jersey, on October 5, 1939, the son of the late Clifford and Erlien (Craft) Wolfe. Rodger lived his life to the fullest and leaves behind many wonderful memories to cherish.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen (Potter) Wolfe who survives. The two remained at one another’s side until he passed. Rodger loved his family and that included Kathleen’s children and grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed making them breakfast, taking them to school and picking them up. He attended their concerts and programs while they were growing up. Though he was not a perfect man, and struggled in some relationships, towards the end of his life, he was able to spend time with family and heal old wounds.
He loved animals, especially dogs and cats. He was very fond his dog “Cookie” whom he would feed, take on walks. When he was no longer able to be at home, a stuffed animal version of Cookie stayed with Rodger and brought him comfort. He also loved old western movies on television and what antenna tv had to offer.
Rodger was a man of faith. He volunteered at his church when he was able. He believed in helping others and was selfless with his time. He helped prepare the church for Sunday morning service, and he provided transportation for those who could not drive themselves every Sunday for several years. He loved his church family and enjoyed potlucks after services. He attended until he could no longer and is greatly missed.
He spent his final days at the Laurels of Galesburg. He loved the staff at Laurels. They quickly learned that he had a stubborn streak and fell in love with him. He was quite the prankster. Even when he was sick, he still gave everyone a hard time and participated in friendly banter. Rodger will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen F. Wolfe; daughter, Shannon (William) Kaberlein; stepdaughter, Betsy (Tommy) Brown; grandchildren, Jamee (Drew) Rogere, Chad Quick, Chelsea Quick, Nicole (Brenden) Rozanski, Audrey (David) Kohns, Elizabeth (Dominic) Paul; eight great-grandchildren, Daxton, Makinzee and Taylee Rogere, Landree and Gracee Quick, Charlotte Rozanski; Noah and Isaac Paul. He was also preceded in passing by sons, Rodger Wolfe Jr. and Michael Wolfe; brother, Clifford Wolfe Jr.
