Cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Eastland Bowling Center, 5570 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49048, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice, c/o the funeral home.

Obituary

Age 69, passed away at his home on Friday, February 22, 2019. Roger was born in Kalamazoo on August 14, 1949, the son of the late David and Vivian (Scott) Byers. Roger had a wonderful and outgoing personality. He made friends easily and was a joy to know. He worked for several years as the manager at Eastland Bowling Center where he was loved by everyone. He considered his friends there as a second family. He enjoyed throwing darts. Above all Roger loved his family and did his best to provide for them. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and was always supportive of those he loved. On July 16, 1999, he was united in marriage to Jane Wilder-Byers who survives. He is also survived by three step-children, Barbara (Brad) Keech, Steve (Stacey) Wilder, Rhonda (Scott) Wheeler; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Lindsey, Zachary, Mackenzie, Zoe and Jase; four siblings; nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded by two sisters.

We met Roger back during his “Harpo’s” days, but as life changed we drifted apart. Finding him again at Eastland Bowl where he was always friendly. We are so sorry to hear of his sudden passing. It’s been awhile since you passed away but I didn’t know where I could find you. You were always amazing boss at Harpos in Kalamazoo. You were the best and I was grateful for you giving me a job. We had a blast. Holding on to the wonderful memories. I was so bummed out that you passed away.
