Roger D. Terpstra

Friends may greet the family at a Memorial Gathering to be held on Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be made to Dementia Society of America, in c/o the funeral home.

Obituary

Age 80, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023. Roger was born in Kalamazoo on May 1, 1942, the son of Claus and Nellie (Folkersma) Terpstra. On December 3, 1965, he married Carol Chase who survives him. Roger enjoyed water and snow sports. Later in life he liked Street Rodding, and owned a 1923 Ford T-bucket and 1930 Ford Model A. He worked for many years in commercial construction and completed several projects for family members over the years. He and Carol went on many cruises and spent many happy years in Siesta Key, FL. More than anything, he loved his family. His family is full of memories of his playing all kinds of games and sports with them. Besides his wife, Roger is survived by his children, Tracy Lynn Locey of Vicksburg and Thomas Dale (Mandy) Terpstra of Lawton; grandchildren, Autumn Lynn Locey, McKenzee Jean Terpstra; step-granddaughters, Savannah Terpstra, Madison Terpstra, Abbygail Terpstra; sister, Marilyn (John) Ufkes; nieces and nephews; and many friends, including his special granddog, Luna. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffery D. Terpstra; sister, Evelyn Grofvert.

Carol, It has been a very long time since we met up with you and Roger at the car shows. What a great time of sharing.
