Scott Edward Bell, of Galesburg, passed away after a long battle with cancer on April 29, 2021. He was at home surrounded by his family. Scott was born on March 31, 1958 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to James and Margaret Bell. He graduated from Comstock High School in 1976. He grew up working for the family business, Bell Greenhouses, and later ran the business alongside his brother, John Bell. Later, Scott was employed at Heritage Community of Kalamazoo as a security guard and then as a purchaser. In 1983 he was joined in marriage to Karen Miller (Bell) and they had two daughters, Tara Bell and Paige Bell (King). He is survived by his spouse; daughters; son-in-law, Adam King; two grandchildren, Karsyn and Griffin King; siblings John (Deborah) Bell, Kathy (Paul) McClain, and Sarah (Tom) Hildebrand. Scott was preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Margaret Bell. Scott liked to spend his time camping, kayaking, and sitting by a roaring bonfire with friends. In the summer he loved to go camping in the Upper Peninsula (“I’m not on vacation until I cross the Mackinac Bridge”). He enjoyed relaxing by the Soo Locks and watching the freighters on the St. Mary’s River. When he wasn’t spending time outside, Scott was interested in learning about American History and airplanes. As an unofficial licorice connoisseur, Scott enjoyed sampling different licorice brands. During his last couple years, Scott treasured spending time with his grandchildren. Scott took great pride in his home, his family, and his work ethic. He will be remembered for being a loyal friend, good listener, devoted father and husband, and for his crooked smile.
