A funeral service will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Children with Special Needs Fund, c/o the funeral home.
Obituary
Age 78, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, with her family by her side. Sharon was born in Kalamazoo on March 13, 1941, the daughter of the late Donald and Agnes (Crawford) Abbey. She was a long-time food service employee for Kalamazoo Public Schools. On September 5, 1958, Sharon was united in marriage to Alvin G. Pathic who preceded her in death on May 17, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Pathic; brothers, Charles and James Abbey; sister, Ruth Weber; and stepfather, Samuel VanDyken. Sharon tragically lost her father and five siblings in a house fire as child. She is survived by her children, Julie (Brian) Schommer, Alvin (Karen) Pathic, Cindy (Keith) Wenger and Samuel (Penny) Pathic; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Sharon (Ma) you certainly touched many lives and I don’t think there was ever a stranger to you. I know you embraced and loved all of your children and grandchildren. I also know you missed Al and that you both get to be together once again. My heart goes out to Julie, Al, Cindy and Sam. It’s so hard to lose a parent. Love you forever!
