Susan Marie Ellison

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on May 11, 2019 at Gull Lake United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paws with a Cause (4646 S. Division, Wayland, MI 49348).
Obituary
The daughter of the late Leslie and Margaret (Gillette) DeCracker, Susan was born in Rochester, NY, in May 1953. The family moved to Michigan at when she 12. She later attended Michigan State University where she met her life-long partner, Larry Ellison. Their 42-year marriage began in 1976, and she peacefully passed away on December 16, 2018. Susan absolutely loved her career in medical science research. She was an enthusiastic, fun loving person who loved life and loved to laugh. This love, warmth and enthusiasm was generously shared with her family, her friends and also with strangers. Her passion for life was expressed in her consummate, detailed travel planning and the enjoyment of many, many extraordinary vacations. Another of her passions was for nature, flowers, butterflies and birds. She strived to surround herself with these. She was a strong and colorful person; her loving warmth will be missed and remembered with equally. Susan is survived by her husband, several cousins, a niece and three nephews along with her beloved Luna and Bella.
As an adolescent child, Larry and Sue used to spend time with my sister and I. We would hang out with them and we would go on nature walks with them and their dogs. My sister and I played card games with them at their kitchen table. Sue’s love for nature was very inspiring. Last I seen Sue and Larry was a couple of years ago at my sister’s wedding. Larry, our thoughts and prayers are with you! Let me know if you need anything.
Very sorry for your loss. I remember Sue as a friendly, fun-loving, person. Her smile will be missed by everyone.
Sue played an important role helping the researchers on many R&D projects at legacy Upjohn. I enjoyed working with her, and also seeing her at movies or bumping into her about town. Her beautiful smile (and those dimples!) could brighten any day. My deepest condolences to her loved ones.
Susan was a very dear friend who taught me so much about nature, birds and life. I will miss her and her wonderful spirit the rest of my life and I will always remember her with a smile.
