Obituary
Age 93, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018. Susie was born December 1, 1924 in Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Albert and Minnie Smit. On September 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harm R. Oosterhouse who preceded her in death in September of 2006. She was also preceded in death by six siblings. Susie is survived by her children, Cindy (Michael) Van Stratton, Mark (Jan), Craig (Jane), Gwen (Frank Della Costa) and Steven (Melinda) Oosterhouse; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a long-time volunteer at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission and loved working in her flower gardens. Susie was an active member of Immanuel Fellowship Church. She was a devoted friend to many people and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Sue was one of my mom’s dear friends from church , and I see she passed on Mom’s birthday (Jeanette Baas) I bet they are rejoicing together in HEAVEN!!
I’ve known Sue for a long time. She had such a sweet spirit and I will never forget her beautiful laugh. I pray that God will grant her whole family “peace”. Much love to all!
I grew up going to church with Mrs. Oosterhouse; she was a woman who was clothed in that “incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God”. Praying for all the family!
Aunt Sue was my grandmother’s (Jeanette Garrison) sister. She will be missed dearly. Aunt Sue was so sweet and although I did not get to see her often enough, I loved spending time with her. When I did see Aunt Sue, it was usually with grandma and I loved seeing her and grandma together and hearing them talk. Aunt Sue’s family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
