Age 76, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2019, surrounded by loved ones. She was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Lobe Degeneration which caused her to lose her ability to speak, write, walk or communicate. Through it all Virginia kept a faithful and joyful spirit. She was always ready with a smile or wave. She remained determined to serve her Lord Jesus Christ, family and others until her passing. Virginia was born in Kalamazoo on October 19, 1942, the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Cronkite) DeYoung. She graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School, Pine Rest Christian Hospital School of Nursing and received her LPN from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She was a hard worker who loved to care for others. She retired from nursing after 27 years. When not working, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and was a faithful member of Second Christian Reformed Church. Virginia loved her family and worked hard to provide them with a happy home. She leaves behind the legacy of a life lived for Christ and of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. On October 20, 1961, she married Louis Houseman who survives. She is also survived by four children, Cherrie (Mike) Wise, Ellen (Daniel) Dykstra, Karen (Todd) Triemstra and Steve (Sarah) Houseman; many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy LaDuke; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Dan Houseman; a brother, Jerry DeYoung, daughter-in-law, Sara (DeBlecourt) Houseman. The family would like to thank Bethesda Ranch Memory Care Facility, the Mol family and staff for their love and exceptional care of Grandma Ginny and the Housman family; you will forever be in our hearts.
