William \"Bill\" Akers

In accordance with his wish, cremation will take place and private family remembrances will be held. William would want everyone involved in this tragedy to remain hopeful and supportive of one another. Memorial contributions may be made to Union City for tornado relief and recovery, c/o the funeral home.
Obituary
William “Bill” Andrew Akers, age 63, passed away tragically during the Union City tornado on March 6, 2026. He had been playing cards and sharing laughs with friends. He was born in Lincoln Park, MI, on June 28, 1962, the son of the late Denver and Shirley (Kiernan) Akers. William was kind, loving and full of spirit. He was outgoing and enjoyed making new friends, his smile and laughter always brought joy to others. He stayed active through life, enjoying golf, dancing, playing card, board and video games, and was an avid fisherman who loved being near the water. He had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing aloud and watching all genres of movies. Above all, William loved his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and an amazing grandfather who leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. William is survived by three children, Daniel Akers, Joe Akers, Ashley (Erik) Perkins; grandchildren, Alexis Akers, Ander Perkins; sister, Sharon Karpinski; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by four siblings, Phillip Akers, Michael Akers, Deborah Gouin, and Kathaleen Carr.

Bill was always a sweetheart and will be missed! Prayers to his family and friends. My heart is with you!
