Age 88, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2024. He was born on September 7, 1935, the son of the late Oscar and Violet (Stratton) Wielinga. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea and served our country with honor. He would always remain loyal to the Corps and was proud of his service. After being honorably discharged he returned and met Katrina (Betrand) Wielinga; she passed away in March of this year. They were united in marriage on December 10, 1955, and moved to Michigan to begin a family. Al grew up with a strong faith, something he continued to nurture as a member of North Park Reformed Church. His warm smile and dedication will be missed by his church family. Al was a hard worker and skilled carpenter. When not working he enjoyed hunting and spending time with friends, spending many hunting seasons on his twenty acres in Northern Michigan. Above all Al loved his family and he was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to bond with them. Al will be missed by all who loved and knew him. He is survived by three children, Albert Jr., Kenneth (Kim) Wielinga, Mike (Elaine) Wielinga; six grandchildren, Kristin, Kenneth D., April, Heather, Mindi, Laura; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Noah, Ben, Owen, Vincent, Emmit and Kol; four siblings, Ruth (Jim) Doorlag, Kork (Linda) Wielinga, Jerry (Eileen) Wielinga, Marilyn Doorlag; many nieces, nephews and friends.
