A funeral service will be held at the Lakeland Reformed Church, 10442 S Sprinkle Rd, Vicksburg, MI 49097, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, beginning at 2:00 PM. A visitation will take place at the church two hours prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Private interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.

Age 97, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25, 2017, with family at her side. She was born in Marion, MI, on April 8, 1920. Alice had a kind heart and a love for the simple things in life. She was known as the “Queen of Quilting” and in her lifetime quilted an estimated 250 quilts; a gift she has passed down to her family. She loved being around her family especially during the holidays. When not quilting Alice also enjoyed working on picture and crossword puzzles. When her children were young she was involved in 4-H, and enjoyed spending time on the family farm. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and will be missed by those who loved her. In 1940, she married her late husband, George Ackley. She was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Jean Riihiama; five sisters and six brothers. Alice is survived by her three children, Joan Raby, George Ackley III and Allen (Bridget) Ackley; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
