Anna “Ann” Nichols-Carlson age 92 of Portage, passed away Monday afternoon, March 9, 2026. Ann was born in Kalamazoo on June 8, 1933, the daughter of Frank Eugene and Mary (Terburg) Freeland. Ann is survived by her sons Jerry Nichols – Maze of Portage and Todd (Carol) Nichols of Eaton Rapids; three grandchildren Chad (Kristen) Nichols of Charlotte, Kylie Nichols of Mt. Pleasant & Amelia Anna-Mari Maze of Atlanta, GA ; and seven great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Loren Carlson; and a daughter, Terri Ann Nichols.
