Arline June Swiontek, “Babe,” passed away early morning, December 29, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Kalamazoo County, on June 23, 1947, the beloved daughter of Claude and Arline (Dalton) Channells. Babe was an amazing, humble, selfless woman who took extra special care to make sure those around here were taken care of. Known to never having met a stranger, she became Nana to everyone. She would share her love of history; her knowledge of knitting and a kind word whenever possible. For many years, Babe attended North Presbyterian Church and later became an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Kalamazoo, something she was rather proud of; knowing she was doing the Lord’s work and sharing her love of others. Babe did for others at every turn, never expecting anything in return. She lived her life by advocating for others who could not advocate for themselves, always living by the Golden Rule. She loved to sew and became the official seamstress at the nursing home where she lived and met many great friends. One of the families’ favorite memories was her sense of adventure and her love for northern Michigan. Many summers were spent exploring museums, parks and unknown roads, something her family continues to do with their own families. Babe was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter, Andora Reed, and her brother, David Sans. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Paul (Doris) Swiontek, her grandchildren, Aurora (Bill Winters) Gale, Bobby (Kristine Obuchowski) Reed, Cali (Tylor) Andrews,  Great grandchildren, Bryton Smith, Mylo Reed, Hunter Reed, Hudson Reed, Cole (Syd) Winters, Cayley (Alex) Winters, Chloe and Emma Bailey, and her great-great granddaughter, Carolynn Winters, as well as her sister, Barbara O’Brien and brother, Dennis Channells.
