Age 68, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 18, 2023, with his family by his side. Art was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 1, 1954, the son of the late Arthur L. and Shirly J. (Gettys) Davidson. He was a life-long diesel mechanic and was very skilled at his trade. Art had a passion for working on cars and motorcycles and enjoyed attending car shows. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his children, Erica Davidson-Kelly and Matthew Davidson; grandsons, Joshua (Meagan) and Jonathan Epperly and Frederick “Bubby” Slater, Jr; his siblings, Myra (Don) Psalmonds, Sue Cross, Brenda (Art) Austin, Denise Zirkelbach, Dale “Barney” Davidson and Peggy (Mark) Slater; sisters in-law, Peggy Davidson and Rose Davidson and many nieces and nephews. Art is also survived by his beloved dog, Brutus, who should be listed first according to his children. Besides his parents, Art was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeremy Epperly; brothers, Lewis “John” Davidson, Donald “Donnie” Davidson and Richard “Rick” Davidson; and brother in-law, Ken Cross. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions in Art’s memory may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
