Ashley Marie Upchurch 30 of Portage passed away on Wednesday morning April 19, 2017. She was born in Kalamazoo on January 25, 1987, the daughter of David and Teri (Powers) Upchurch. She is survived by her parents; a sister Emily Upchurch and grandmothers, Kiku Upchurch and Barbara Powers. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins, Linda (Ron) Rowlson of Galesburg, Julie Powers of Kalamazoo, Sean (Lisa) Powers of Kalamazoo, Jody Wilson (Dave) Cavanaugh of Galesburg and Tara (Jeff) Herder of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Miles Upchurch and Harold Powers and a cousin Kayleigh Herder. She attended Portage Central High School, where she was a cheerleader. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University. She enjoyed rock climbing, loved the outdoors and there wasn’t a sport or activity that she didn’t excel at. She enjoyed trips to the beach, traveling and dogs.
