ISBELL, Aszure
Kalamazoo
On November 29, 2023, at age 46, our Sister Aszure Meoka Isbell passed away peacefully at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Born Aszure Pippen on April 19, 1977, she was the daughter of David Jackson and Jeanette Pippen. In 2008, she earned an associate degree in the field of medical administration. She married her best friend, Matthew Isbell, on August 15, 2010. This year, she was thrilled and excited to learn of the upcoming birth of her first grandchild. She was preceded in death by many friends and relatives, including her mother, Jeanette Pippen, and her grandmother, Deanna Prince, who helped raise her. She also leaves behind many loved ones: husband, Matthew Isbell; her children, Keegan “Love Lain” Pippen and Shawnee “Celeste” Simmons; father, David Jackson; sisters, Aziza Pippen and Sharmila Jackson; sister in-law, Lindsey (Geoff) Lewis; niece, Addison McCarthy; mother and father-in-law, Tina and Bryan Isbell; mother, Susan Fisher; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Aszure loved to crochet, sing karaoke, dance, and celebrate the accomplishments of her loved ones. She became a member of Hearth and Grove Fellowship, where she loved to connect spiritually with her friends and community. In 2015, she had her year and a day ceremony with the fellowship. She will live on through the lives of her children and the many memories of the people who have come to love her.

To honor her memory, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Aszure’s name to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Arrangements will be made at a later date for a Celebration of Life to take place in the spring.
