Age 87, passed away on Monday afternoon, October 7, 2019. Barb was born on March 13, 1932, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Frank and Marylois (Wickett) Holmes. On January 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Martin H. Johnson who preceded her in death in 2018. Barb and her husband were long time members at Faith Reformed Church, and later at Southridge Reformed Church. She was an avid walker, sometimes walking as much as six hours a day. She enjoyed camping with Marty and the rest of her family and friends. She loved taking care of her grandchildren. She had many friends, who along with her family will miss her very much. She is survived by her children, Linda Dunn of Vicksburg, Mike Johnson of Clearwater, FL, and Carole (Dave) Bonnewell of Portage; a son-in-law, David VanderRoest of Clearwater, FL; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Mary) Holmes of Portage; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Ann VanderRoest; granddaughter, Jennifer VanderRoest; grandsons, Noah and Nicholas Bonnewell; siblings, Dick Holmes and Bill Holmes.
