In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place and private interment will be at Mt. Home Cemetery in Otsego.

Age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2017. Carl was born at home in Doster, Michigan on October 1, 1930. He was the eldest son of Harold and Vivian (Griffeth) Sanford. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Nancy Holmes, Gloria Reed, Rosalie Davis and Juanita Case. He was also preceded in death by his long-time partner, Julia Smith. Carl is survived by Julia’s children, Diane (Mike) Johnson, Elvin (Shelia) Smith and Carol (Rick) Hudson; daughter, Sherri Cartright and siblings, James Sanford, Harry Sanford, Wanda Tull, Patricia Fenton and Julie Freed.
