SEGOBIA, Carmen

Kalamazoo

Carmen Christine Segobia, age 59, was called to heaven on October 11, 2021, to be with the Lord. She was born October 15, 1961, in Kalamazoo, MI where she spent most of her life with her family. Carmen was a member at Christian Life Center while living in Kalamazoo. She worked at the State Hospital on Oakland Drive and as a nurse for Borgess Nursing home on Chicago Street in Kalamazoo, from which she would retire.

Carmen enjoyed watching Christian television, reading her Bible, watching Doc Martin and Downtown Abby. Her favorite thing to do was watch scary movies. Carmen also loved coloring and doing arts & crafts, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carmen was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Carmen was a passionate spirit and outspoken. She had a big heart and went out of her way to helped anyone in need. Carmen was loved dearly by her children and grandchildren. Some of their fondest memories with her are riding in the car listening to Alice Cooper on full blast, getting snacks from the store for movie night, and going to the carnival. Carmen made sure that she always carried around a big bag of candy bars to share with them. Her smile was so infectious and she always had jokes to tell.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Alice Segobia and family members Ronald Hobbs, Earnest Hobbs, Jeanie Rinehart, Wanda Carr, Tamra Oatmen and Seleta Jean Stafford.

Carmen leaves to cherish her memory, her siblings, Sherry Pyle and Sandra Stafford; her three children, Renata (Francisco Vega Jr. ) Segobia-Vega and her father Richard Ladyman, William Osborn and his father William Osborn and Caleb Segobia and his father Howard Segerdahl; four grandchildren, Michael Vega (Kalila), Francisco Vega III, Renato Vega and Caleb Segobia Jr.; three great grandchildren, Leo Mikael Blackeagle-Vega, Giovani Saul Blackeagle-Vega and Noé Ray Blackeagle-Vega and a host of nieces, nephews and family friends. Carmen was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
