Age 76, passed away Thursday evening, March 4, 2021. Carol was born in Kalamazoo, on September 18, 1944, the daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Lucas) VanLiere. She enjoyed crafts and was known for making her own greeting cards. She was fond of golden retrievers. She was an active member at Bethany Reformed Church, where she had served as a deacon and in many other capacities. She was married to Richard Sherman on August 10, 1963, and they were married for 30 years.  Carol and Richard had 2 sons who survive her, David Sherman of Portage and Scott (Cheryl) Sherman of Portage; grandchildren, Leslie (Matthew) Hutcheson, Mary Sherman, Rachel Sherman, Katherine Sherman, Olivia Sherman, Richard Knowlton; 3 great-granddaughters; sister, Jean Kilgore; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles VanLiere; and her dog and good friend, Holly.
