Age 87, passed away Friday morning, March 1, 2024. Carolyn was born in Kalamazoo on March 31, 1936, the daughter of Harvey Olin and Evelyn Arlene (McMillan) Gibbs. Carolyn was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, Class of 1954. Although she primarily worked as a home maker, she also devoted time to working at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. She also worked for a short time for the Upjohn Company. Carolyn was an avid reader. She especially liked reading history and westerns. In her early days she loved riding horses and attending Frontier Days in Cheyenne, WY. She loved all animals, especially the neighborhood cats and dogs. In the ‘70’s and 80’s she was a member of the Civil War Roundtable. Carolyn was devoted to her family and was the primary caregiver for her mother, father, sister and her uncle, Burson Gibbs. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Allison (Dennis) Croessmann of Edgewood, NM; grandchildren, Luke Croessmann and Molly Croessmann; niece, Karen (Maze) White; great nephew, Brandon White; great-niece, Desiree White; and many friends.
