A service in witness to Clarence’s life and faith will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family hour prior to the service at the church. Clarence has been laid to rest at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Reformed Heritage Christian School or Alternatives of Kalamazoo, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 71, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday night, December 13, 2022. On November 5, 1971, he married Joanne Balkema who preceded him in death in 2021. Clarence is survived by his children, John (Cheryl) Vlietstra, Douglas (Sarah) Vlietstra, Jennie Vlietstra, all of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Levi (Rachel), Jessie (Timothy), Adam (Ruth), Andrew (Elizabeth), Nella, Jacob (Clair), Luke, Caleb, Emma and Caitlyn Vlietstra; great-grandson, Hendrik; siblings, Harold Vlietstra, Glenn (Nel) Vlietstra, Raymond (Linda) Vlietstra, Paul (Phyllis) Vlietstra, Janice (Dennis) VandenBerg, Allen (Robin) Vlietstra; sister in law, Betty Vlietstra; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Joel R. Vlietstra; sister, Betty Leep; brother Donald Vlietstra.
