Craig McCaul, age 66, passed away on February 6, 2022, at his home in Kalamazoo. Craig was born on April 21, 1955, in Longview, WA, to Kenneth and Carol (Nantell) McCaul. He is survived by his children, Torrey (John) Wenger, Devon (Tinessa) Moss, Courtney McCaul, and Ian McCaul and by his sisters, Sharon Trader, Barbara McClellen, Shelly (Paul) Quinn, Susan McCaul, and Sandra Swinford. Craig is preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Kevin McCaul. He was raised in Newberry in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and he lived in Oklahoma before moving to Kalamazoo in the 1980s. Craig was a longtime employee of Kalamazoo State Psychiatric Hospital, working for many years with compassion and pride before his retirement in 2016. Throughout his life, Craig acquired a number of hobbies, from chess to poker to music to video games. He had an interest in medieval history, particularly in the history of Ireland and the Celtic people, and that interest led to his involvement with the Silver Leaf Renaissance Fair. Above all, he will be remembered as a father who loved his children deeply and dearly. No services are planned at this time. Those wishing to honor Craig are encouraged to make memorial donations to the West Michigan Cancer Center.
