Dagnita “Nita” Butlevics age 90 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Kalamazoo passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2026. Nita was born in Riga, Latvia on August 29, 1935, the daughter of Vladimir and Ella Berzins. She was married to Helmut Osvalds Butlevics who preceded her in death in 1993. As a child, Nita immigrated to the United States from Latvia with her parents and brother, Victor Berzins. They settled in Whittier, California. Nita worked for many years for the State of Michigan in the state revenue department. In her sparetime she loved music and dancing. For exercise she enjoyed walking. Nita is survived by her children, Ingrid (Kenneth) Butlevics-Todd, Andrew (Mary) Butlevics; grandchildren, Mikelis Butlevics, Matis Butlevics, Alex Butlevics, Lara Butlevics; niece, Kristin; nephew, Brian; extended family members in Latvia; many friends. Besides her husband Nita was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother.
