Dan was my Dad. I noticed that I think and talk about his cooking a lot!! He always had tons of good food, from his garden, things he had pickled and everything in between. You certainly could never go hungry! I remember his smile and his love for Ford ...that he passed on to me. I'm on my 7th Ford and I'm a FORD VIP at the dealer. He was a big guy, (his daughters well we are all short) so I really remember his warm enveloping hugs. He was very caring and emotional. I also got that from him 🙂 He was an incredible athlete, artist, mechanic, car enthusiast. businessman, fisherman, worker, and he certainly knew how to have a good time! I distinctly remember Christmas with him when I was very very young. He made them magical. I still love Christmas to this day because of how he celebrated it. I tell my own children the same story every year how he would get us up right after Santa came to open presents and eat in the middle of the night under the tree with Christmas music playing and snow falling outside. We felt so lucky to open gifts before anyone else! The nighttime only added to the magical special feeling. His illness was awful and due to it I didn't see him recently. The last time I saw him was with my youngest daughter Hillary. We all went to Perkins together for breakfast. I choose to remember him that way, smiling and talking to us about out trip. I love you Dad, I hope you knew that, no matter what happened i was still always thinking of you. Love Dana

Remembering visiting his sporting goods shop in Kalamazoo when I was a very young boy and how impressed i was with all the fishing gear... remembering he sent me a big pile of fishing lures and fishing tackle for Christmas one year! Wish I'd had the opportunity to know him better.
