In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and he will be interred at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, date and time to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society or Centrica Care Navigators Hospice, c/o the funeral home.

Age 90, passed away at Medilodge of Portage surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on August 3, 1934, the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Sniffen) Stafford. He was raised in Delton, MI, and graduated from Delton High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and making friends. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served until being honorably discharged. He returned to Southwest Michigan and attended Western Michigan University. He began working as a police officer for the City of Kalamazoo and made the rank of detective before retiring after more than 24 years of service. When not working he enjoyed camping and being outdoors, traveling, and arrowhead hunting. He was a gun enthusiast and historian who enjoyed going to gun shows and to the shooting range. He was a member of the Kalamazoo FOP. Above all David loved his family and he leaves behind memories to be cherished. He is survived by three children, Andrew (Kristie) Stafford, Jay (Kathy) Anderson, Bruce (Jody House) Stafford; grandchildren, Andrea, Brooke, Alex, Josh, Heath and Sean Stafford; great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a son, Mark Stafford and three siblings.
