A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019, beginning at 12:00 PM at Westwood CRC 620 Northampton Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49006. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service. In Wisconsin, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, beginning at 11:00 AM, at Faith Reformed Church, 1321 32nd St N, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494. Dorothy will be laid to rest at the Christian Reformed Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Christian Reformed Church (missionary funds), c/o the funeral home.

Age 83, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, with family at her side. She was born in Iquitos, Peru, on January 3, 1936, the daughter of the late Reverend John and Marie (Ramp) Gerrard. Dorothy had a joyful and gentle spirit based on her strong faith in Jesus. She was passionate about sharing her faith with others and was a loyal member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church and previously the Wisconsin Rapids Christian Reformed Church. Dorothy was a loving and supportive mother who was honored by her children. She was proud of seeing her family grow and she loved making memories with her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and showing hospitality to family and friends in her home. She leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived and she will be missed by all who loved her. On September 20, 1958, she married the love of her life Robert Jansen, who preceded her in passing on May 10, 1997. She was also preceded in passing by an infant daughter, Marilyn Jansen. Dorothy is survived by four children, Charles (Mari-Beth) Jansen, Carol (Tim) Bratt, Joy (Steve) Nieboer, David (Vicki) Jansen; fourteen grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Edna Asher and Jan (Curt) Lange; many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
