There will be a celebration of Doug’s life when we can all safely gather and share stories.  Memorial donations can be made to the two organizations Doug actively supported, Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org) or the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (www.ifcj.org).

Douglas Allen Neujahr, age 74 of Delton, MI, passed away Saturday morning, May 16, 2020 after battling heart and respiratory illness for several years.  He was born in Kalamazoo to Lloyd and Erma Neujahr.  Doug graduated from Loy Norrix High School and Ferris State, where he learned the art of being a tool-and-die/mold maker. He remained active in this occupation and ran his own company, Plastic Prototypes, until health problems forced his early retirement. Doug has been described by those who loved him as inventive, loving, stubborn, gregarious, occasionally irritating, curious, independent, reckless, generous, fun-loving, and a devout Christian. He found joy sailing at Gull Lake, where he spent many memorable summers with his family as a child and young man. In the 60s Doug found expression for his creative side playing guitar with The Hitchhikers, a Kalamazoo band. He had the mind of an inventor and was always looking for better ways to do things.  Even in the days preceding his death, Doug was coming up with ideas for products to help people. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Erma Neujahr; stepmother, Margery Neujahr; grandson, Ryan Crawford.  He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Matt) Gurney of Battle Creek MI; son, Doug (Amy) Neujahr, of Delton MI; grandchildren, Molly and Drew Crawford, Gabe and Lucas Neujahr; siblings, Jim (Mimi) Neujahr, Tom (Julie) Neujahr, Linda (Joe) David; stepbrother, Doug (Dolores) White and a clan of adoring nieces and nephews.
