Age 50, passed away at Borgess Medical Center on Saturday, October 27, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Duane was born in Kalamazoo on January 16, 1968, the son of Marvin and Mary (Nufer) Dykstra. Duane had a great personality and was a friend to all. He was a graduate of Mattawan High School Class of 1986. He went on to serve our country in the Army until being honorably discharged in 1993. Duane was an avid and accomplished bowler. He was on many leagues and scored several 300 games. He was head of the youth Kalamazoo Area Travel League where he helped teach children the love of bowling. He was also passionate about racing and competed in Circle Track at the Kalamazoo Speedway and drag racing at US131 Motor Sports Park in Martin. More than anything Duane loved his family. He was proud of his children and did his best to provide for their happiness. On October 13, 2001 he married the love of his life Teri (George) Dykstra who survives. He is also survived by two children, Duane II and Tifani Dykstra; mother, Mary; sister, Susan (James) Murphy; brother, Barny (Emy) Dykstra; mother and father-in-law, Jim (Jean) George; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in passing by his father, Marvin.
